THE INAUGURATION OF THE MUNICIPAL MARKET MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OF THE AKATSI SOUTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY
REMARKS BY THE HON. MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE,
MR. MARTIN KOFITSEY NYAHE DURING THE INAUGURATION
OF THE MUNICIPAL MARKET MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OF THE AKATSI SOUTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,
GOOD AFTERNOON:
I am happy that we are gathered here for the inauguration of the Municipal Market Management Committee. You are all most welcome.
Although markets have proven to be important sources of revenue to a number of District/Municipal Assemblies, they have not received the necessary attention and treatment as business entities. Most markets are not yielding the potential revenue because of lack of planning and effective Market Management Team of the Assemblies.
Markets do not yield maximum revenue because the Assemblies do not focus on the prime determinants of business success planning. The planning process for markets is a means of gathering information, analyzing the impact of the information of the market and refocusing efforts to meet new demands and conditions. Appointing an effective Market Management Team by the Assemblies is the recommended panacea for viable and vibrant markets.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
The mandate of the Municipal Market Management Committee shall be as follows:
- Responsible for the maintenance and management of the management.
- Responsible for arbitration of disputes
- Responsible for sanitation issues in the market
- Enforcement of Bye-laws in the market.
- Providing an effective security system in the market.
- Ensuring effective revenue collection in the market.
- Submission of quarterly reports.
It is our expectation that the Committee would help to turn things around within the shortest possible time.
